Christmas

On Christmas eve, we went to Minong and celebrated Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa B and family. It was very busy as usual. Gavin played with his cousins.
Then on Christmas, we drove down to Redwing to see my dad and family. Gavin watched movies with Jake on his little dvd player and played cars with him. They are always excited to see each other. We visited with my Dad, Lori, Jake, Grandpa, Sonia, Jackie, Tom, and Evie. It was good to see everyone.
We got a new Down Syndrome Association Calendar from Dad and Lori featuring Jacob on the month of May. It's great! You can check it out at: http://mhdsa.org/OnlineGiftShop.htm#Calendar
Look for Jacob on "May".

Here is Gavin opening gifts with the Stapels and watching movies with Uncle Jake.

Santa visit

Today Gavin visited with Santa at the mall. He told him that he wants a skateboard. When we got home, we decorated a gingerbread house. Gavin of course was excited for this and wanted to eat it right away when we were done. I cut a piece off the back of the house and let him eat it. The rest of the day, we played with his new toys and games and watched Christmas movies. I love Christmas vacation.

Christmas

On Saturday, we went to Aj's birthday at Action City. It is basically a huge arcade with go carts, bowling and laser tag. Gavin loved it. He played lots of games and it was lots of fun. Happy Birthday AJ!

Here is Gav and Sylvester riding a virtual reality rollercoaster ride.

After Action City, we went to Sarah and Chris's house for Christmas with mom. We had a very nice steak dinner made by Chris and Sarah, opened gifts, and then played Wii bowling and boxing.

It was a busy day and Gavin snuggled up to Dora (his dog cousin) and fell asleep.

Christmas

Well, we started our Christmas season on Friday. We ordered out our traditional Chinese take-out and then opened our presents. Gavin was very excited to open up presents!! He seemed to like everything, including the books I bought him. He even stopped opening presents and asked me to read one of them to him. We read "Pirates don't change diapers". He thought it was so funny. Other presents he liked included a Power Rangers costume (He loves to dress up!) and a kids digital camera. He has been snapping a ton of pictures.

Well, I didn't get to open all of my presents because Gavin took one of mine out from under the tree and hid it. Then he forgot where he put it. We looked for it Friday night, but never found it. He did the same thing with Max's wallet a couple of weeks ago and Max found that IN THE CHRISTMAS TREE a few hours later. We never did find the present Friday night.

After things wound down friday night we all settled in and watched a 3D Christmas movie that we bought Gavin. It was Gavin and Max's first 3D movie. After that busy day, we all had to try hard to stay awake for the movie.

Gavin's program

Gavin had his Christmas program at Trinity preschool today. He was very excited for it and was glad that Grandma came down to see him. It was very cute, except it was combined with the other pre-k class and the kindergarten class so it was kind of hard to hear him. His class was all sheep and the kindergarten told the Nativity story.

Brrrr....

It's so cold out today. My car barely started when I came out of work. I'm surprised that we had school today. The wind chill was 30-something below zero. I don't think that tomorrow is looking much better for temperature.

I am excited for Gavin's preschool Christmas program tomorrow. I have the afternoon off and Mom drove down this afternoon so that she will be here tomorrow for the program. They are both on the couch right now watching "I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown!".
Gavin has been practicing his songs for the show tomorrow. He has an interesting take on some of the lyrics including "We Three Kings of holy and far". And ".....stay by my cradle till morning is Night." It should be interesting tomorrow.

My first blog post

Hi-

I decided that a blog might be a good way to keep everyone updated on our family. Gavin is growing so fast and changing every day. He keeps us laughing and suprises us daily. I will try to keep everyone updated on his happenings, as well as Max and I.

Right now, Gavin is in a kindergarten prep class at Trinity Academy in Hudson. He loves it and can't wait to go to school each day. Next week is his preschool Christmas program. It is on Tues. at 2:30 for anyone that wants to come. He will be a sheep. I can't wait to see it. He loves to sing and has been practicing his songs. I will be sure to post pictures. He is very excited for Christmas and wrote his letter to santa today. He asked santa for a T-rex, camera, skateboard with knee pads, and a ladder. He cracks me up. I asked him what he wanted the ladder for and he said so that he could get kittens out of trees. I had to remind him that we had no trees in our yard.

As for Max and I, We have both been busy with work. I am still teaching early childhood and that can be very stressful and busy. I am thankful to be working in a new school with a new room with lots of storage. It makes everything so much easier.

Max has been working for a company that sells scrubs both at a store and as a traveling company to nursing homes and hospitals. We are looking at buying the traveling portion of the company right now. We will let everyone know when that goes through. That will definitely keep us busy getting that set up here soon.

Well thats it for now. Please let me know if you visit the blog so that I know if it is worth updating. Look forward to seeing everyone at Christmas.
